Nathan Luke Sunderland lives in London and has practiced traditional Qi Gong, Taiji (Tai Chi) and Martial Arts for over a decade. His desire to broaden people’s understanding of the health benefits and philosophy found in traditional Chinese Internal Martial Arts prompted Nathan to expand his studies, which originally were in Personal Training and Fitness Instruction, by journeying to China in search of the very best mentor. There, he settled into life in Mount Wudang, a mecca for Daoist scholars, priests and mentors who follow nature (Dao), refining themselves through their practice of ancient health-preserving techniques, internal alchemy and martial arts, living in isolation and in accordance with nature. For three years, Nathan immersed himself in the lifestyle as an apprentice to Taiji Master Chen Shi Xing. He earned his Instructor Diploma and the chance to become a Disciple.
Nathan feels happy to be part of International Integrators and the Living Whole Immersions, offering experiences that involve both seated meditation and a series of postures and exercises that include slow circular movements, regulated breathing, self-massage, and training the breath and the mind to direct energy to bring the body into a natural state of balance. Nathan’s approach integrates the modern disciplines of fitness training with ancient disciplines that gather Jing (Essence), Qi (Energy) and Shen (Spirit), the three necessary vitalities for health.
